How You Can Celebrate Freedom to Read Week
Get Involved
Whether you are a librarian, bookseller, educator, student, or member of the community, there are lots of ways you can help mark this annual event.
Events
Check our online calendar of Freedom to Read Week events to find out what's happening in your community, or submit an event for publication.
Freedom to Read Kit
Show you support by ordering a Freedom to Read Kit, featuring articles on current censorship activities in Canada, clip art, annual poster, and suggested ways to get involved.
Host Your Own Photo Contest
A great way to get people involved is to host a photo contest in your community or school. Ask participants to submit photos about freedom of expression, which could include photos of challenged books, Freedom to Read events, the Freedom to Read Week poster, people reading or anything that promotes the written word.
BookCrossing: Free a Challenged Book
To mark Freedom to Read Week, the Freedom of Expression Committee, in partnership with BookCrossing.com, has come up with a fun and innovative challenge for Canadians.
